Composer's comments: "The trumpet should use a mute unless playing in a very large room, or with a larger string orchestra... If a large string orchestra is playing, the full treble woodwind choir may be used at the discretion of the conductor..."
Critical ed. by Paul Echols & Noel Zahler, 1985 (Ives Society). This score contains both the original 1906 version, and the revision of c.1930-35.
