A special optional solo cornet part for the 2nd mvt (where trumpets and cornets are otherwise tacet) may have been written for a performance by the legendary Jean-Baptiste Arban. This part is included in the Kalmus set; it is also available in Appendix III of the Bärenreiter collected edition of Berlioz in a format that can be photocopied and used in performance (v.16, p.197). The Norton score integrates the part into the score of the 2nd mvt.
