Instrumentation by Ferde Grofé. New set of engraved parts and MS score (2009) is a vast improvement over what was previously available.
The above instrumentation shows how the parts are laid out; for practicality, however, certain adaptations could be made:
E-flat clarinet (in tsx part) could readily be covered by cl1.
String bass (in tuba part) may be given to a separate player.
Tmp & perc might be covered by one nimble player (but tmp+1 is better).
Celesta plays only 19 bars — all of it doubled in glockenspiel.
Oboe plays only 9 bars. In the score it is shown as a double for cl1, but in the set it is provided with its own part.
