In the opera the overture elides with the first number, necessitating a concert ending for performance of the overture independently. This edition, ed. Bastiaan Blomhert, employs an ending alleged to have been composed by Mozart himself for the wind-band version of his Entführung. Blomhert reorchestrated the wind-band ending to close the original overture.
