Brief history of this work:
1st version, 1868, published in score form (1970) in the Rimsky-Korsakov collected edition, vol. 17A.
2nd version, 1875, available from Kalmus (no. A1925, a reprint of the original 1880 Bessel publication).
3rd version, 1897, definitive final version, though not published by Bessel until 1913. Renamed by the composer in this version as a Symphonic Suite, rather than a Symphony. Distinguishable from the other versions by the fact that the 2nd mvt is in D minor, rather than C# minor. Available from Kalmus (A8179, reprint of Bessel)) and Breitkopf (Breitkopf lists the work under Antar).
"4th version," 1903. Spurious and unauthorized, this seems to have been an opportunistic undertaking by Bessel using the plates from the 2nd version, and incorporating only such revisions from the 3rd version as could be fitted to the old plates. Published only in score form in the Rimsky-Korsakov collected edition, vol.17B.
