A Hmong folktale.
The qeej is a Hmong free-reed mouth organ, also known as geeng. The optional qeej part is entirely improvised; if a qeej is not used, a cut of about 2' should be observed.
An optional children's dance with improvised qeej accompaniment (3-4' extra duration) may be inserted.

A mother tiger wants to learn how large her family will be. She travels to the kingdom of the great god Shao, who tells her she will have nine baby tigers every year, as long as she remembers his words. She happily travels through the forest singing "Nine-in-One Grr! Grr!" But the clever Eu Bird is worried about an overpopulation of tigers, and sets out to trick Tiger into forgetting her all-important song.
