The composer had an aversion to what he called "poetic titles," and often called his works "Musik für..." The present work originally bore the title "Music für Orchester in einem Satz." It was later retitled (either by the composer or the publisher) to avoid confusion with the 1912 "Musik für Orchester in einem Satz," which had since been published.
