The 4 "drum groups" are composed of ethnic percussion instruments, arrayed near the oboe soloist; individual percussionists leave the orchestral percussion at specified times to cover these groups: Percussion2 (drum groups 1-3) and Percussion4 (drum group 4).
Drum group 1: dumbek, kendang, or djembe
Drum group 2: bongos & congas, or kendang
Drum group 3: rototoms & floor tom, played with sticks
Drum group 4: rebolo (tuned low) or floor tom
