Ed. Georg Schünemann. This is the original 1809 version of the Andante & Rondo ongarese, although it was not published until 1938. Weber had revised it in 1813 for solo bassoon (J.158), in which form it became established in the repertoire.
The orchestral materials for J.79 and J.158 are not interchangeable. However, the Kunzelmann edition by Hans-Hubert Schönzeler includes both the viola and the bassoon version.
NB: A more elaborate version by William Primrose is well-known to violists in viola-piano score; however, the Primrose version will not work with the orchestra parts for either J.79 or J.158.
