Ives, Charles
1874-1954
(b Danbury, CT, 20 Oct 1874; d New York, 19 May 1954). American
Lincoln the Great Commoner, S.184 <1922–1923>
chorus
Specific information available for subscribers.
There is as yet no Ives Society critical score, and the composer's intentions with respect to instrumentation remain ambiguous. One of the flutists may optionally double on piccolo. Additional brass (2tp, 2tbn) double the chorus in places. (Octaves indicated in the tuba part are probably intended as performance options, rather than a requirement for a 2nd tuba.)
