Specific information available for subscribers.
The history of the two versions of this arrangement of Victor Youmans’ popular tune Tea for Two is not entirely clear.
The small instrumentation is believed to have been written in 1927 in response to a challenge by Nicolai Malko; it was later added to the ballet
The Age of Gold (1930) as an entr'acte before Act III.
The larger instrumentation, perhaps by Veniamin Basner and/or Yuri Simonov, was likely created for use in the radically changed 1982 (posthumous) production of
The Age of Gold, not as an entr'acte, but as one of the dances.
