Frescobaldi, Girolamo Alessandro
1583-1643
(b Ferrara, bap. mid-Sept 1583; d Rome, 1 March 1643). Italian
Toccata (orchd. Kindler)
Specific information available for subscribers.
See: Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966): Toccata in the Style of Frescobaldi.
Almost certainly not by Frescobaldi. The work is believed to be a forgery by the cellist Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966), who passed it off as a “transcription” of a keyboard work by Frescobaldi. It was then (presumably innocently) orchd by conductor Hans Kindler (1942).
A tuba part is included, but does not appear in score.
Original publisher: Mills
Likely out of print; score & parts on IMSLP.
