The well-known Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, for chorus, oboe, trumpet, strings and continuo, appears twice in this cantata: the sixth movement (Wohl mir, dass ich Jesum habe), and the tenth and final movement, with identical music but a different text (Jesu bleibet meine Freude).
