The soloist performs at one of three stations, corresponding to the particular movement:
I. WOOD: 2claves, 4woodblocks, 5templeblocks, castanet, coconut, 2wood drums, 3logdrums, marimba, xylophone
II. METAL: chimes, vibraphone, glockenspiel, crotales, 2tamtams, suspended cymbal
III. SKIN: 4timpani, 2bongos, 6tomtoms, bass drum, talking drum, 2kickdrums
