A concerto for orchestra based on Franz Schubert's Kupelwieser Waltz, a solo pf work played by the composer at Paul Kupelwieser's wedding in 1826, never written down, but passed through the generations by ear. This waltz was transcribed and edited for solo pf in 1943 by Richard Strauss at the request of one of Kupelwieser's descendants.
