Orchestra members also play instruments made from junk: hosepipe in F (1st hn); bamboo flute (1st fl); tuned bottles (2perc); drinking straws (1st ob); washtub/broomstick bass (principal db).
Instruments are constructed on the spot from junk; then the 6-person "junk band" is pitted against the full orchestra, in the manner of a concerto grosso.
