Parts include a trumpet covering a vocal line that would otherwise be absent; it may be omitted for this excerpt. The very first chord is scored for full orchestra, including full brass, tmp & cym; this single note may simply be played by the above complement.
Often used as a showpiece for solo flute, by simply omitting most chromatic passages in violins and orchestral flutes; retain clarinet chromatic passages which generally occur when the melody dips below the range of the flute.
