  An orchestra founded in 1980 by Elizabeth Seja Min, Miriam Abrams, and Nan Washburn, with a goal to help compensate for the under-representation of women within the mainstream classical music world. It was comprised entirely of women, and performed only music composed by women.
Dissolved as a peformance organization in 2004, but continuing certain activities as Women's Philharmonic Advocacy (founded 2008) under Liane Curtis as President. Website includes repertoire information regarding women composers, as well as performance grants for US orchestras.
