Completed and orchestrated in 1897 by Sergey Taneyev, to make up the middle and last movements of the Piano Concerto No.3. Originally intended for a symphony in E-flat, from which Tchaikovsky had already drawn one movement for use as the first movement of the Piano Concerto No.3.
