A symphonic fantasy prepared 1946 by the composer, based on his opera composed 1914-17. The composer had reduced the instrumentation from that of the opera; in 2009, Peter Ruzick sought to restore this to match the rather extravagant orchestration of the opera. In the process Ruzick extended the length of the fantasy somewhat.
1 percussionist doubles briefly on timpani. The following instruments appear only briefly near the end of the work: tp5&6, cel2, glass harmonica, org (a few long pedal notes only).
